Cosmopolitan Hotel Greece
Santorini was bustling with its normal huge amounts of tourists and we were most relieved once we walked through to the relative calm of Cosmopolitan Suites (note: pedestrian access only - your taxi will drop you off a couple of blocks away so make sure you've got a map of where you're going). We were met by the lovely Vicky, who happily told us that, due to a cancellation, she was able to offer us an upgraded room for our first night's stay - what a lovely surprise! We were moved to a "lesser" suite for the next two days, but it was equally lovely, just minus the living room. Vicky gave us so many ideas of things to do around Santorini, and was equally helpful throughout our stay - with restaurant bookings, spa appointments, chasing our laundry etc etc. She said she felt like a surrogate mum to her guests and she really did make you feel part of the family! Breakfast is plentiful and you can choose as many extras as you like - either served on the terrace with amazing views over the caldera, or in your room if you were too lazy to get up and get dressed in time. Location was fantastic, right in the middle of Fira with breathtaking views of the caldera from the terrace and infinity pool. The pool and surrounding area was, however, quite small but the geography of the area makes it difficult to do much in that respect. Despite clear directives not to reserve the few deck chairs available by the pool, we found certain guests did anyway, which is always a little disappointing. The staff have done their best to be considerate to all, but you will always find a selfish traveller or two wherever you go! We reluctantly left Vicky and the staff after a three night stay, with promises to return - especially as they are due to renovate and upgrade. Free wifi is available, but a bit flaky - but a quick call to reception and they will reset the modem for you. Can't recommend it enough - just make sure there's availability for us when we return!
